Stations Gallery > WPTA/WISE: Master Control Room Installation
Quincy Media, Inc. (QMI) station, WPTA/WISE, not only needed a new Master Control room, but they also desired a relocation and upgrade of their tech core to be prepared for future broadcast needs.
Installing the new Master Control equipment, while moving the existing on-air tech core equipment to a new location, were the challenges presented in this project.
Heartland Video Systems, Inc. (HVS) worked within the station’s daily broadcast schedule parameters for the replacement and relocation of existing on-air equipment. Temporary cable runs were provided back to the existing tech core to keep the equipment usable until cutover to the new system. In addition to the Master Control install, HVS prepped and wired the new tech core with a separate WX equipment rack, OTT rack, and IT racks. The IT racks consisted of all the cabling for future firewall, router, voice gateway and Ethernet needs.
This project required careful scheduling and detailed planning to execute multiple concurrent requirements within the station’s allotted timeframe. HVS repeated their ability to multitask within the install of equipment for a successful cutover to the new Master Control room and new tech core location.
WPTA/WISE was the last QMI station to cutover to their new Master Control system. This project completed the Master Control room and Production Control room conversions of all the new markets that Quincy Media, Inc. had purchased in 2015.
